Review by Pat and Chris Stinson
The Super Black Eagle ll from Benelli is a semi auto shotgun, with ComforTech™ recoil pad and stock for light recoil and reduced muzzle climb. Crio™ system, the barrel cryogenically frozen at -300 degrees for a smoother bore. CrioChoke™ system, extra long chokes for gradual constriction five included. The Inertia Driven operating system is faster, lightweight, and cleaner. This is as simple as I can explain the innovative features of the Super Black Eagle ll. We tested the shotgun on waterfowl and upland game firing hundreds of rounds 2 ¾ to 3 ½ steel and lead. The Super Black Eagle ll performed as advertised, no problem with cycling shells and all of us appreciated the weight just 7.2 lbs on the 26-inch barrel. Optional features include three comb sizes, 3 ComforTech™ gel recoil pads and set of shims for customizing drop and cast.

The Super Black Eagle II sets the standard for style, versatility, and performance by which all other semi-auto shotguns are judged. That judgment is based on unfailing reliability—the kind of reliability that you can count on, shot, after shot, after shot. As the original 3½" semi auto shotgun, the Super Black Eagle was on the cutting edge of shotgun development; now we have followed it with the newly designed Super Black Eagle II featuring the innovative recoil-reducing ComforTech™ stock.
The Super Black Eagle II uses the proven Benelli Inertia Driven® bolt mechanism that allows it to shoot 2¾", 3", and even 3½" magnum ammunition without adjustments. In addition, the Super Black Eagle II incorporates some basic improvements, such as a drilled and tapped receiver.
The new ComforTech™ system reduces recoil up to 48% when compared to the competition, without adding any moving parts or weight. Next to competing brands, the Benelli weighs 13 to 15% less — on average, that is more than a pound less! The ComforTech™ system also reduces muzzle climb by 15% allowing for fast follow-up shots. This lets shooters get back on target up to 69% faster than the competition.
The butt pad, made of a shock-absorbing gel originally developed for the medical industry, works with the ComforTech™ system to soak up recoil. Benelli engineers created an ergonomic design so refined that left- and right-handers have entirely different recoil pads. A corrosion-resistant recoil spring and guide remains free of rust and ride in a recoil tube that is easily cleaned by removing the quick-detachable recoil pad.

Drawback
|
Instructions for loading the Super Black Eagle ll are not clear. The manual tell you to load two in the magazine first, then pull the bolt back and insert third round in barrel. Make sure bolt locks, if not gun will not fire. Update: We spoke with Benelli and were instructed to load the gun differently that the instruction shows. Make sure gun is on safe, pull bolt back, the red dot on the cartridge drop lever is depressed. Bolt is open, load first shell in tube and close, loading two shells in magazine.
